The Story of the Old René

Lost in the heart of the forest, old René's house has suffered the ravages of time and nature. Overgrown with ivy that has crept into every crack and crevice, it now stands abandoned, left alone among the century-old trees.

Old René, a seasoned adventurer, is said to have lost his life there during a terrible battle against a Nightmare. These beings of smoke and iron devote their existence solely to death and slaughter.

Believing the forest to be protected, René built his house far from the noise and violence of the world, hoping to live out a well-deserved peaceful retirement. When he was found among the torn walls that once sheltered his dreams, he was still clutching a portrait of his wife to his heart.
